Christmas Cards and DCM Challenge

Santa's little helper No. 2. The latest DCM Challenge reads :-" "O Christmas Tree. O Christmas Tree" Want to guess what needs to be featured on your cards this week? Yes, we want to see lots and lots of Christmas Trees - that should help you get those stocks of cards looking a bit healthier. " Well I've been playing with my Periphery papers again from the Scrummy Stash Cafe and here is my attempt :-

The stamps used are an Anna Griffin Christmas Tree Stamp and a Merry Christmas Stamp from Hampton Art.

I love the stamp used for the next card and I've used my watercolour pencils to colour the reindeer and then glazed over the image (not sure if you can make out that its glazed!). The papers are 3 Bugs, Chalk Garden, from the Chalk Garden card kit at the Scrummy Stash and the reindeer stamp is from Stamps Away, again from the Scrummy Stash Cafe.:)

More from the Chalk Garden Kit. I did this layout for a class in last weekend's cyber crop on UK Scrappers.

DCM - Where The Wild Things Are & Di Hickman's Sketch Oct#2

Phew, just finished today's Daring Cardmaker's challenge, which Kathy has set - a really Beastly dare, I've also based the sketch on the current Di Hickman sketch.

"The theme is ANIMAL and you can use anything that's animal inspired - not those diddy little ones like bugs, birds and butterflies (though you can include them in your design of course) but what I'd really like to see is bigger, wilder, more fabulous or fantastic creatures So you could maybe use animal die cuts, animal prints on paper or fabric, or maybe animal words or phrases "grrrrr get down tiger"!!!! You could invent your own wild and wonderful beasties, or go back in time for dinosaurs, or into the world of mythology for all sorts of incredible creatures. How about a card in the shape of a tiger, elephant or monkey? Now, there's a challenge for you.... I'd love you to all go really wild over this one and have loads of beastly fun"

Sorry, not got anything really beastly, but I've got some lovely farmyard animal stamps that I haven't used in such a long time. And....... I've done some watercolouring with my brushmarkers and waterpen! Haven't done that in a while and not sure I've made a good job of it either!! Anyway, here's the card.

DCM - Santas Little Helper - Christmas Words

Just another quick card for the current DCM Challenge - Santa's Little Helper No.1:-

I've been bogged down this week and I think I've got a heavy cold coming on, so haven't been doing much crafting (moan....moan.....), so this is another "quickie". Also, as I still haven't bought this year's Christmas stash, I've used the remaining HOTP papers from last year. I've simply matted and layered the card, stamped in the corners and finally, coloured the chipboard letters, then clear embossed. Thanks for looking.:)

Supplies: HOTP Cardmakers, UTEE, Dovecraft swirl stamps, Versamark inkpad and whispers pen.

DCM - Answers on a Postcard

This weeks challenge from DCM is to design a postcard and post it. Well, I'm not posting it just yet - I'll will wait for the strike to finish first! The photograph is one that I took on holiday in Bavaria last year, its of Neuschwanstein Castle - the beautiful fairytale castle built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in 1869-1886. I've simply matted and layered it onto the BG Periphery papers, which I think are very "Regal" and matched the photo. I cut around the swirl and slotted in smaller piece of card (from the Chablis paper) for an extra little note. I've inked up the edges and stamped into the four corners. Its a very quick and simple card, but I've got so much to do this weekend, so I needed to keep it that way! Hope you like it and thanks for looking.

Supplies: Periphery Kit and Studio G clear stamps from Hampton Art, from Scrummy Stash Cafe, Black Stazon ink pad.

DCM - Stamp Card & Di Hickmans Challenge Oct#1

Here are a couple of cards I've done this week. The first is for both the current midweek DCM card challenge Post Haste and for the current Di Hickman's weekly sketch. On this card I've used plain red Bazzil cardstock and simply matted and layered the set of stamps on to card and paper. I then glazed over the stamps to give a glass-like finish. The glass finish hasn't shown up all that well on the photo. I've also used a rub-on for the sentiment and rick rack ribbon. Oh, nearly forgot to mention that the stamps are from a parcel my sister sent me earlier in the year - she lives in Germany.

Supplies: Bazzill Basics, Love Elsie Betty Papers, Papermania rub-ons, Anna Griffin Clear Glass Finish and Rick Rack supplied with a Scrummy Stash kit now sold out.

The second card is a "Thanks" card I've done using the Periphery Kit from the Scrummy Stash Cafe. There'll be plenty more to come from this kit and the Mellow one, so keep a look out and thanks for looking.:)
